Boutique Shopify Studio LondonNew York

Shopify, built properly — for premium D2C brands in the US and UK.

Treff Works is an operator-led Shopify SEO consultant and development studio. One senior practitioner running design, build, search, performance, and conversion as a single engagement — not a team behind an account manager.

01The market gap
Why a fourth option exists

A premium D2C founder usually has three options. None of them are built for the work that matters.

Option 1

The theme installer

Cheap, fast, generic. The store looks like every other Shopify site and breaks under the first round of real customisation. Fine for $0–$200k brands. Not for yours.

Option 2

The design-only studio

Beautiful Figma boards, weak execution. Hands the build off to a dev shop that flattens the design, ignores SEO, and ships tracking that misfires for a year before anyone notices.

Option 3

The growth agency

Bolts SEO and paid media onto an unfit site. The engine has more horsepower than the chassis can carry. Spend goes up, conversion stays flat, and nobody owns the website.

Treff Works is the fourth option. One senior operator running design taste, Shopify build quality, organic search, performance, and ad-readiness as a single integrated engagement. No handoff. No bolt-on. No junior team behind a senior pitch.

02What's on the table
Services

Four disciplines, run as one engagement.

— S/01

Shopify development

Custom themes, Liquid architecture, app rationalisation, backend logic, and the unglamorous structural work that makes a store easy to manage and easy to buy from.

— S/02

Ecommerce SEO

Technical SEO, site architecture, collection and product page optimisation, internal linking, content strategy. Built for organic visibility that isn't dependent on paid media.

Detail →
— S/03

Performance & Core Web Vitals

Speed, render-blocking script audits, app bloat, image and asset hygiene. The goal isn't a Lighthouse trophy — it's a faster, more trustworthy buying experience.

— S/04

Conversion & ad-readiness

Landing page structure, conversion paths, GA4 and tracking integrity, Klaviyo flows, and ad-to-page coherence — so paid traffic lands somewhere built to receive it.

03Process
How the work runs

Four stages. No black box.

Every engagement begins with a two-week audit. From there, scope is defined, agreed, and delivered against a fixed plan. Retainers come after the first project, never before.

Stage 01

Audit

Two weeks. Technical, SEO, performance, CRO, tracking. Documented in a single brief with prioritised actions, costed.

Stage 02

Plan

Scope, sequence, and budget agreed against the audit's findings. No retainer creep, no surprise change orders.

Stage 03

Build

Development, SEO implementation, performance work, and tracking — delivered against the plan and reviewed weekly.

Stage 04

Refine

Post-launch optimisation, search positioning, and conversion work. Either a defined second phase or an ongoing fractional retainer.

04Fit
Who it's for

Built for some brands. Wrong for others. Said plainly.

— Best fit

  • Premium D2C, $750k–$7m / £500k–£5m revenue
  • Fashion, accessories, interiors, gifting, beauty, wellness, craft
  • On Shopify, or migrating from Squarespace / WooCommerce / Wix
  • Running at least one paid channel; weak organic share
  • Founder, ecommerce lead, or marketing director as buyer

— Not built for

  • Stores under $200k annual revenue
  • Marketplace-first sellers and dropshippers
  • Enterprise Shopify Plus with internal dev teams
  • B2B SaaS, lead-gen-only websites
  • Brands that need ten suppliers and a procurement process
05Operator
Who runs the work

Operator-led only lands if the operator is visible.

A good ecommerce site should never make you choose between beauty and performance. Most do. That's the gap this studio is built for.

— Founder & Principal · London

Treff Works is shaped by hands-on D2C experience, not agency theory. Years inside a London luxury goods brand sold through Paul Smith and selected premium retailers — and a multi-year run as fractional digital director for a luxury Shopify brand — keep the work close to the realities of running an ecommerce business.

Product, margin, stock, creative direction, paid traffic, SEO, conversion, customer trust, and the constant pressure for a website to look good while doing its job. That's the brief every premium D2C founder is actually working against. The work here answers it directly.

06Questions
FAQ

Six honest answers.

Yes. The studio is London-based and works with brands across the US and UK. Most discovery calls and weekly check-ins happen between 9am ET and 5pm BT, which covers both working days without anyone setting an alarm.
Best fit is premium D2C brands roughly £500k–£5m or $750k–$7m in annual revenue, on Shopify or migrating to Shopify, with brand-led marketing and at least one paid acquisition channel already running. Smaller brands are better served by themes and a freelancer; larger brands by a dedicated Plus agency.
Yes, for development, SEO, performance, and CRO work. Treff Works is not built for enterprise Plus stacks that need a dedicated in-house dev team or a 20-person account structure — that work is better served by larger Plus agencies.
Both, but in that order. Most engagements start with a fixed-scope Shopify Audit, followed by a defined project. Ongoing fractional retainers are available once the working pattern is established — never as the entry point.
Yes. Migrations include content and product transfer, URL mapping, 301 redirects, schema rebuild, and SEO preservation. The aim is no loss of organic traffic through the move — and ideally a lift within the first quarter.
A focused redesign or replatform runs four to eight weeks. Larger builds with custom functionality run eight to twelve. The Audit phase is two weeks and is credited against project fee if the engagement proceeds.

Three fields. The discovery call qualifies budget and timing. No pitch deck, no form-fill funnel.
